dvd issue

for some unknown reason my windows media player has stopped playing the
soundtrack on any dvd's. pictures are fine but no sound. any idea why???

i'm having a simular prob.my cd's play music fine.but when i insert a dvd
movie in2 my media player the movie plays fine but there is no volume.please
help!

Simple things first. Mute turned off? Master and Speaker? Volume turned
up? Control Panel>Hardware&Sound>Sound>Playback, speakers enabled?
Indication of sound on the bar chart?
