Now longer able to see my DVD/RW on my HP 530 notebook after a Vista Business
update came down in late December. Restored back to Dec. 3 and seems to work
fine. How to I keep the updates coming but get my DVD/RW back? There are no
driver updates and the system tells me there is not older driver to revert
to. Tried to uninstall and have Vista recognize with no luck.

Hi bambam,
You asked:How to I keep the updates coming but get my DVD/RW back?
Try clicking on Start > Control Panel > Windows Update > Change
Settings and choose the option called "Download Updates but let me
choose wether to install them". This way you can see what updates are
there and uncheck any device drivers updates you do not want installed.

This fix restores your CD/DVD drive to Windows Explorer so you can access it.
It works for XP and for Vista.
