Hello, Ive been trying to troubleshoot some DVD playback issues
in Vista, one of the tips I've seen is to check the region tab in the
device manager and make sure it's set to the proper region.

The problem is, there is no region tab in my DVD properties.
Anybody have any ideas? I had updated my burner a couple of
years ago with a third pary region free firmware. Could this be
the reason? Region tab shows up OK in XP on the same PC.

Dave

Hi,

It could be the problem, it's likely preventing it from being displayed or
altered.

Thanks for the info - I've tracked down a non-rpc1 of the same
firmware I have.
At least I'll get the bit-setting and improved strategies, etc, etc.
I'll give that a try if I have to.

How does Vista know that the drive is rpc1 ? I set it to region 1
using XP, but it didn't affect its "usability" in Vista.
Perhaps I should delete it in Device Manager and allow Vista
to reinstall it.

Dave.
