DX 9 needed to run Vietcong on vista

Hi guy

I am in hell here as i need DX9 on my new vista PC to run vietcong. I
not a PC guru so i cant realy sort it out. i know im running DX10 an
realy need help to get DX9 running instead. PLEASE PLEASE can someon
help me with this problem

Look on same site for developers distribution of Directx and install that.
The file you are running just downkloads and installs over the internet.
You can also try installing Directx from a recent game you bought as most
of them include it. Most recent update to Directx is August 2008 though so
best to run the latest from Microsoft if you can. If none of those methods
work then you have some issue going on and need to investigate what it is
causing it. I don't know why Microsoft doesn't include Directx as part of
Windows update but they should.

yea ive tried to indtall DX9 from a game disc but it just says direct x
had been updated. think it only updates DX if it needs to. It must be
detecting the up-to-date DX10 i have..

Well the DX10 and DX9 coexist smoothly in vista. If the game you are trying
to play has updated the DirectX and still doesn't work I would suggest you
to turn to drivers instead.

Go to http://www.microsoft.com/directx

follow the links to "for gamers"
find the "Download the latest DirectX" link
download the dxwebsetup.exe file, run.

Try Vietcong again. May need to reboot.

Vista doesn't come with DirectX 9, only DirectX 10, a lot of games are
retarded and don't know you're supposed to call the DirectX installer every
time (checks to make sure all DirectX files are present and up to date).

So yeah, game devs don't usually spend a lot of time on their installers.

once i try to run the download im getting an error mesg' :
"An internal system error occurred,
Please refare to DXError.log and Directx.log in Windows folder to
determine the problem"

Ive looked in the folder and cant find the .log one.

Any joy with DX9? Vietcong is one of my all time favourite games, hope you
got it going.
