Dysfunctional

I have no idea what causes this malfunction or even how to properly
characterize it but occasionally (not every time but often enough that
it's extremely aggravating) my system will suddenly start cascading
dozens of copies of the same page (link or whatever you want to call it)
onto the monitor screen.

Once upon a time, my XP system did the same thing but either because of
some adjustment I unknowingly made (or maybe somebody higher up the
computer food chain made an adjustment), the phenomenon stopped.

Has anybody else experienced this same malfunction and if so, do you
know how to stop it? Sometimes I just have to shut off my computer to
stop it as the "end task" function doesn't work.

It's not specifically in the Windows Mail program, Shawn, although i
has happened there once also. Anyway, I'll check out your link and se
if that'll solve my problem

You're extremely knowledgeable about this new OS - are you with Dell?
BTW, I'm a Texan too

Sooner,

No, I'm not with Dell or anyone else. I'm just a independent user that
has been working on computers since the old DOS days. Glad to see a
fellow Texan here to.

As long as you follow the instructions in the tutorial, you will be
fine. They only instruct you on changing the settings back to default,
so it will not hurt anything if that is not the cause of your problem.

I added a download option to make it easier to do soon.

Thanks very much for your input, Peter. You're pretty knowledgeable
about these matters yourself. Much more so than me.

As I said in my initial post, I've been using computers since about
1984 but have never really explored the mechanisms that make it all fit
together. Too intellectually lazy, I guess.

You're welcome. And thank you for the vote of confidence.

But I don't know about me being more knowledgeable than you, though. I
live my the basic rule that -no matter how much you know, there's always
somebody there that knows something you don't-.

Chances are you know something about computers that I don't, just as I
may know stuff that Brink may not, just as he may know something that
Andre does not. But isn't that why we're on this NG? So that we can all
learn something from everyone else?

I wouldn't say intellectually lazy. Maybe you had other priorities, and
you just never really had the time?

Peter,

I second that. I am constantly finding about things that I did not know
before. (haha)

Hi,

That's certainly not normal, but to my knowledge it's not a known issue
either. You can intentionally cause a cascade failure of Windows Explorer by
holding down the windows key + e, but there's not a keyboard shortcut like
this for internet explorer. Perhaps your system has a keyboard hotkey for
this function? If so, it may be that the button occasionally sticks, or that
there is an issue with the supporting keyboard driver. Updating to the most
recent driver release from the manufacturer may help, as may adjusting
keyboard settings in the control panel.
