Somehow I acidentally installed IE 7 Beta 2, and I can't get it to shoe up or
function. I also can't remove it as it does not show up in "add or remove
programs" area. Further, I can't get the computer to restore. I have tried
a number of highlighted dates, and none will restore. Additionally, I have
tried to re-download the program, but get the message that it is already
there and should remove it by going to "add or remove programs" and I can't
do that either. I am stymied, and my computer is slowing down dramatically.

Please help. Thank you.

To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 and return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP:

1. Click “Start,” and then click “Control Panel.”
2. Click “Add or Remove Programs.”
3. Check “Show Updates” at the top of the dialog box.
4. Scroll down the list to “Windows XP – Software Updates,” select “Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview,” and then click
"Change/Remove."
5. If "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2" does not exist,
run: %windir%\$NtUninstallie7bet2p$\spuninst\spuninst.e xe
(To do this, you need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.)

Before proceeding, please read! =>
http://msmvps.com/blogs/spywaresucks.../21/87123.aspx

1. First try uninstalling via Add/Remove Programs. (Tip: Make sure Show
Updates box is checked.)

If IE7 isn't found there, try the following which is based on the notes of
MVP Sandi Hardmeier:

2. Run the commandline

%windir%\$NtUninstallie7bet2$\spuninst\spuninst.ex e (IE7 Beta2)

%windir%\$NtUninstallie7bet2p$\spuninst\spuninst.e xe (IE7 Beta2 Preview)

Replace %windir% (above) with the path to your Windows folder, most often
'C:\Windows'. Make sure Show Hidden File and Folders is enabled via Control
Panel > Folder Options.

or

3. Go to the key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

Right click on Internet Explorer > New String Value > Name that value
InstalledByUser (the value of the new String should be your User Account
name) > Uninstall IE7 via Add/Remove Programs.

Some software (for example CCleaner) deletes uninstaller directories such as
$NtUninstallie7bet2$ (or $NtUninstallie7bet2p$, for IE& Beta2 Preview). If
the $NtUninstallie7bet2$ folder is empty, or has been deleted completely,
whether by third party software or manually to preserve disk space, you will
*not* be able to remove the Beta 2 Preview via Add/Remove Programs or the
commandline. If running System Restore does not resolve the situation for
you, then your only choice is to stay with the Preview, or format your PC
and install Windows anew. You will not be able to install any future builds
of IE7 while Beta 2 Preview is installed, nor will you be able to run a
Repair Install of XP.

Beta testers of IE7 Public Preview are asked to post their comments &
questions to microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general newsgroup.
