I recently purchased a HP Pavilion dv9000 and installed Microsoft Office Home
and Student and the Upgrade to Genuine Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit) on my
compter. I found I have a problem when I try to attach a word document and
send it to a friend - they cannot open it. I have re-saved the document in
Word 97-2003 thinking it might be too new a version problem but when I try to
e-mail these converted documents may computer at work or my friends cannot
open them. I have Word 2003 at work. HP feels it is a ISP problem. What
are your thoughts? I can send pictures with out problems.

If when you "SaveAs" you clicked the "Save as Type" drop list you can chose
what format is required from your work vesions or friends. They may be
different and not compatible with Vista files.

I might need to clarify the issue. if I try and e-mail the document (excel
or word of which I saved as 97-2003 version) I cannot open it at work
,however, if I make a copy of it on a thumb drive and insert the thunbdrive
in my computer at work I can open the document. I have saved the document
in 97-2003 version. That is the basic problem. If I can open thumb drive
copy then I should be able to open my email copy. Its probably clear as
mud.

Try saving the document to the desktop and then making the attachment in the
email pad from there. It may work?
