Easy transfer autoloads on my XP machine

I asked the following question in the XP help and support NG, but they told
me to come here instead.

I transferred what files I needed from my older XP PC to a new Vista
machine.
Now whenever I boot up my XP PC, the XP PC opens up a folder onto the
desktop
called "Microsoft" which has another folder in it called "MigWiz". I can
click it closed, but it is a pain to have to do every time I turn that
computer on.

I tried to locate the program name running msconfig.exe, but could not find
it in particular. I also went to "Add/Remove Programs...", found the
program, but said that certain other programs I have would/could possibly
not run right if I removed the Easy Transfer application...one of which is
UPnP.

Is there another way to remove the Easy transfer program? Perhaps reverting
to an earlier system restore point?

Thanks for your help.

I don't know anything about that program so this is just a guess. If you
open the program can you find a setting for it not to run on startup?

The program is from Microsoft, however they don't have a help page
associated with it.

The program name, downloaded from Microsoft, is called tfrcable_x86. In
"Add/Remove programs" it is called Windows Easy Transfer. It is used to
migrate data/files from an older version of Windows on another PC to a
(different) Vista-based PC. Clicking on the program in "Add/remove..."
brings up a 'for support' box linking to Microsoft
<<http:support.microsoft.com/kb/wetcable>>. No page is there for support (at
least not yet).

Opening the program only allows you to start up a session to begin file
transfers. It does not allow you to 'disable on start-up.' In fact, as far
as I can tell it really should not be starting up at all during startup, but
it is nonetheless.

Thanks again for your interest and assistance.

If you don't need it, just uninstall it....

What I would do is create a restore point and then uninstall the program.
I've removed other programs that gave me similar warnings so that's the way
I did it. Never had to use the restore.
