easy transfer error message

I have a compaq Presario and am moving files to new HP Pavilion.
Belkin easy transfer cable, all software installed
The error message is:
There might not be enough disk space on the recieveing computer.
But I am only moving 28gb to a 300gb hard drive.
I have restarted, retried, etc etc and still the the message.
HP support could not help.
Any thoughts

After untold hours trying to get mine to work, one techie said I needed extra
space on my old hard drive for it to work. It wasn't an issue for me, but
maybe for you? I think it needed about 1/3 gigabyte, and I had way more than
that.
