Easy Transfer migration blocked by Spybot Search & Destroy

After 4 attempts to do an "Easy Transfer" migration from old XP system to new
Vista system using the Belkin Easy Transfer cable, I noticed the migration
always failed when Spybot Search & Destroy was named below the progress bar
on the Vista system. So I uninstalled the Spybot program and the migration
went flawlessly! Note: I had already done the 'prescreen' get-ready for
migration process online through Microsoft, but the Spybot Search & Destroy
program had not shown up as an issue. UNINSTALL SPYBOT SEARCH & DESTROY
before trying to do an Easy Transfer migration of files using a Belkin cable.

I might offer that such crap should never be installed to begin with.

You obviously don't know the program; nor much about anything.

I don't know your age, or expertise (of which you have a very high opinion),
however, you misjudge Spybot Search and Destroy. Check it at CENet or PCMag.
It was out there clearing spyware before Norton and McAfee. Now, of course,
the giants in virus protection have the same offerings as part of their
products, still Spybot Search & Destroy often picks up what they miss. It
surely did block migration from XP to Vista until I realized what the problem
was! Considering the number of downloads of Spybot Search & Destroy that
have been made, it is a significant problem for Easy Transfer migrations and
an alert needs to be added to the pre-scan program to identify it before the
migration begins so that people are stuck for 4 or 5 hours like I was trying
to get the operation to work.

What the hell difference does that make? Look it up if it's important
to you, it's in my address.

I think you're projecting. Get, AdAware SE Personal (Not the newest version)

Although, there isn't much that can help VISTA at this point, but a couple of
very serious service packs.

> however, you misjudge Spybot Search and Destroy.

It began as piece of **** con job, and barely continues to hold it's own.
Misleading advertising and search placements acheived it's high down
load numbers. They still do it today.... "Free" removal tool".... So the
gullible people believe they can fix a problem, download and run, find
all sorts of spyware and malware, click 'remove' only to be told, "Sorry,
if you want that out, it'll be $29.95."

> Check it at CENet or PCMag.

I check this stuff in computers, not in the advertising rags.

Now there are the two world's worst pieces of invasive crappola.
They can screw up *any* OS from 3.1 to Vista.

Cheers,

By the way... did you clean up the registry?

You have such a small clue, you don't even know when you're being spoken to.

> People like you should be barred from here.

The people who should be barred are those that believe software can do
everything for them, and thus they never bother to learn how to maintain
their own PCs.

"Easy Transfer" is as much a waste of money as is "Spybot".
(Just my humble opinion.... while yours seems to be off topic
hostility).

By the way... have *you* ever removed Spybot from the registry?

Nevermind.... I'll bet you think your PC gets a registry cleaning on boot up, too.

Cheers,
