easy transfer XP to Vista-does not work for me

used the easy transfer cable with software. The screen indicated transfer was
successful and hundreds of files were transferred. The problem is that I
only have the files, e.g. document, but these filesdo not contain any
documents. Ihave looked everywhere I know but cannot find them. I need help.
