I have had some issues with audio and video using Messenger. I am now on 8.1
RTM and so are the people who I've been communicating with. The first issue
was one where I would ininitate a video conversation with my son. I was on
the road in a hotel somewhere and he was at home in his room. I could see and
hear him, but he could only see me, not hear me. His microphone volume slider
was at zero and it appeared as if the microphone was muted. My first question
is... Why would his microphone be muted or just plain silent. We could do
audio only just fine, but when video was added we lost his mic. The second
issue is one of echo. While working on the first issue above I learned from a
blog somewhere that by running the following command from the Vista command
prompt (as admin):
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
I could get the sound working, but one end would have terrible echo. If we
removed video the sound would be great, with video the echo is terrible.
Any ideas on either of these two issues?
