Elongated Black screens during log in and Confirmations...

Usually when the screen fades to black when the "Allow/Deny" Box pops
up, I get about 8 seconds of delay of a black screen between the actual
screen and the button.
It gets really annoying, it also happens during log in.

Does anyone know whats going on?

best guess, update your video drivers.

I have seen AV software set to 'scan on open' that caused trouble too, but
it doesn't sound like the same issue.

Also, it didn't do this prior to reinstallation of the OS

Reinstalled most recent drivers and nothing... anyone else

Try disableing UAC, it sounds like its dragging for some reason.

I never use it anyway. I never get infected either so I would'nt worry
about that as long as you have a AV and FW in place.

I kinda want to avoid doing that. I like the feature, but the 10 second
black screens are getting annoying.

Here's basically how it went.

Prior to reinstalling vista, it didn't do it.

Prior to installing video drivers, it didn't do it.

After installing and re-updating video drivers, it started doing it.

Got it taken care of. Went into regedit and changed

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Policies\System\PromptOnSecurityDesktop

to Zero. It still pops the message up with no black screen.

Ya-ay
