Email choices in Windows 7 -- Options?

I haven't made the move to Windows 7 yet but I'm thinking about picking up a
new machine which will be running Windows 7 Home Premium. I know I could
shell out a couple hundred bucks and get Office 2010 with Outlook, but what
are my options for an email client in Windows 7?

I have seen Windows Live Mail on a friends computer running Windows Vista
and it looks hokey. I do not like the look of it at all.

From Microsoft
Windows Live Mail is the only free desktop client unlike Office suites that
include Outlook (not all do).
Alternatively, third party clients provide free email clients. A search in
Google, Bing, or other search engine should provide a quite a few links
(Thunderbird, Opera, etc)

Mozilla Thunderbird is a viable option. I primarily use Pegasus Mail,
myself, which works under Windows 7, as long as you accept the default
folder location (which is *not* in the 'Program Files' folder structure).

I was meaning to switch to Thunderbird but I tried WLM and really liked it.
All my email accounts go through it and it does what I want of it very well
