Email using old deleted account

I have a problem that I went to another ISP provider so deleted the old email
account and now have a new on.

When I check emails for some reason it is using the old account and I don't
know where it would have stored that as I have deleted the old account and it
is no longer showing in email accounts.

I keep getting a message asking me to put in my account user name and
password when I have already put it in and clicked remember password.

Has anyone else had this problem.

You probably deleted it from the computers email program, but not from ISPs
database meanining, the ISP provide was not informed that you want to
disable or destroy that account.

Thankyou but my ex has decided to keep that email account open so he is using
on his computer.

Isn't there some way I can remove it from my laptop so my email doesn't
check that account as it is having major problems with my new account and
email.

Which email program are you using? If its Windows Mail, click Tools >
Accounts > select the account and click the Remove button.

to check for email, your email software needs at a minimum:

the name of the server
the name of the account
the password of the account

change those in your email program, or delete that account. How to do
that depends on your email software, not on the operating system.

Yes I have done all of that before and still it finds the old account.

I have looked in the registry and still cannot find where it is pulling this
information from.

Do you mean that WinMail puts it in the same Inbox? All POP3 mail goes to
the same Inbox unless you make message rules telling it otherwise.

No when it does a send and receive it checks both my new email and the old
deleted one which I have deleted so am not sure where it is still sitting.

Did you delete it from Tools | Accounts?
(Highlight the account and click Remove.)

Yes I have. I do have alot of computer knowledge but this one has absolutely
stumped me.

I have looked in regedit and still there is no reference to my old email
account.

It has to be in some registry somewhere but I don't know where.
