Emoticons DOne show up anymore

I have no clue what happened to all my emoticons. when i use them i just get
the letters. others can see them but i can't. and i can not see others.

PLease help this is stressful

I have deleted messenger and reinstalled it

Turn them on in the options.
This certainly is NOT stressful.

Yes it is stressful and where in options doi turn it on.

Greetings,

Firstly, close all open conversation windows and then open the main Messenger window (where
your contacts are listed). Click the Tools menu (or press Alt-T if the menu is hidden), then
choose Options, then make sure both the 'Show emoticons' and 'Show custom emoticons' options
are selected and choose OK.

Then open up a conversation window and try again.
