Emoticons in text problem...

Hi guys,

Hope you still read this, but something that has annoyed me endlessly
is...emoticons ;-)
The feature itself is great ofcourse, no discussion about that! :-)
But e.g when you have an emoticon 'love' which displays a heart or you have
some emoticon linked 'ok'.
You type in: My beloved Messenger friends, can you have a look at this
request?

It will display My be<HEART EMO>d Messenger friends, can you have a lo<OTHER
EMO> at this request?
When you have lots of emoticons, this is a very annoying situation.
Wouldn't it be better to only translate the emo text if it is a word? Just
standalone? So beloved would stay beloved, only love alone would give the
emoticon.

Why was it implemented this way, I guess there has to be some valid reason???

Greets,
Nick

Hello,

for me it is the same problem. I hate it when I can't read the messsage
anymore.
I help myself out and tell my friends to put those things into "" or (), so
it would be (love) or "love". And if they want to use that icon, they type
(love) instead of love.

Greetings,
Paolo D.S.

Greetings Nick,

There would be a big backlash if it were implemented the way you suggest. A number of people
use emoticons as words and -want- it this way.

What I'd suggest instead is you change your emoticons so that they're surrounded by a
container character, such as [

for instead, instead of "love", use "[love]".
