Empty Burned DVDs

Hello, I reacently burned a few DVDs from another Visa 5600 computer to use
on another Vista 5600 computer, however when ever i try to use the disk it
seems to be empty even though it says that the space has been used, i checked
with the other computer and the disk wasnt finalized but the session was
closed, but i still cant view the files now in eather computer, and due to a
reacent harddrive error i cant burn the same data again... so now the only
way to get that data is on those disks, is there a way to view those files or
are they completely lost?

and yes the DVDs show that they do have the data burned into them (the
bottom side of the disk show that it has been used), so i know the data is on
those disks.

any help anyone can offer is greatly apreciated, Thank You

The best solution for you it would be to ask a friend to burn for you
another DVD
tested whether it boots up and installs the Vista. Without it you can
waste a lot
of time. From my experience the best for burning Vista DVD is Nero.
Other applications are not so good for this particularly case.

If the DVD shows physically trace of burning and doesn't want tom boot
there is nothing much you can do, but to burn another DVD.

They arent boot DVDs though, they just have data on them, such as pictures
and application backups.

i dont know if i have to look for a particular plce in windows to be able to
view them, i havent tried to use them on another computer not running Vista
though...

There is a simple solution, blank CD-r and DVD +/- r have a little issue in
Vista. Vista sees everything originally in a program much like Incd. What
will happen is that it will burn the DVD as if it were a DVD +/- RW. It will
not close the disk. What you have to do is when you put the DVD in the drive,
close out the auto-play option. go into MyComputer, double click on the
drive. It will ask you for a name to format the disk. Click "Format options"
and when it brinds up the next option box. Click the circle nect to
"Mastered."
If you let it burn as a RW, it will not close the disk, Mastered will close
the disk. And your data on your DVD-r will not be visible until the disk is
closed.
You got one shot, if you pull the disk before it closes, I know some will
say you can still read it, but I have never been able to, you might as well
chunk that DVD out the window, it is now a nice frisbee. And DVD-rs ain't
cheap. No need in wasting the money. Just try re-burning it under the
Mastered settings. It will work.

do you see if there are any files on the disc, or is it unreadable.
It's possible that the format is different? (just a guess)
Are you using the same program you used to burn it, to view it?
It's possible the hard drive error may have something to do with it.
These are just some of the questions I would check.
You may be able to find a program than can view the raw format although I
don't know how that would help you.
Are these re writable dvd's?
