Emptying 'Deleted Items' folder on exit

I am running WLM version 2009 (Build 14.0.8089.0726) on Windows 7 with all
the latest updates. I have 'Empty messages from the Deleted Items folder on
exit' checked under Maintenance, but they're all still there when I exit and
restart WLM. Is there another setting I should be looking at to make this
work?
TIA,

Tom,

I experienced the same thing earlier today. I'm new to WLM and found that if
you "checked" the ''Empty messages from the Deleted Items folder on
> exit' after there were items in the Deleted Items folder, it does not

Hope this helps.

That setting is for IMAP accounts. Is your account an IMAP account?

There are two settings for this feature, only one is targeted for IMAP accounts.
Refer to "Cleaning up messages" in Tools > Options > Advanced tab > Maintenance.

Thanks for that! Strange that I had done that earlier and it didn't work,
but it did this time.
Thanks again!

No, I have a POP3 account. David Webb gave the answer before I could, and
Richard's suggestion worked for me.

It's an intermittent bug in WLM. I find the error on about 10 to 20% of
the times I close WLM. This is with the deleted items folder under
storage folder, so it's not an issue of communicating with an IMAP or
HTTP mail server.

It actually deletes the underlying EML files, but fails to update the
index file so that WLM thinks the messages are still there.
