Is there a way you can clear the older notifications from the 'Whats New'
ticker on Messenger? I am still seeing notifications from all the way back
to when I got WLM 2009.

Greetings Larry,

You can remove the file where this is kept, but I suspect it won't help you as it'll probably
just regrab the same old entries from the server. Be sure to sign out of Messenger before
doing this (so you can see the change immediately).

The file is called WNResponse.xml and is located in;

For XP:
\Documents and Settings\username\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\LiveID\SocialNews
and on Vista:
\Users\username\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Messenger\ LiveID\SocialNews

Where username is your Windows username and LiveID is your Windows Live ID e-mail address.
Additionally, some of these folders will be hidden by default, to see them simply press the
Alt key on the keyboard in any Windows Explorer window to bring up the toolbar, click Tools,
then Folder Options, then the View tab, and then choose 'Show hidden files and folders'.
After click OK, they should appear with the other folders.

Well you are right. The damn thing keeps coming back like a bad cold.
I have to say, I should have gone with AOL 25 years ago as MSN and Messenger
have minds of their own!
