The portion of the memory not available to user programs is being reserved
for memory-mapped I/O for hardware. It is the price we pay for our high-end
video cards and such. Leave well enough alone.

Vista SP1 now reports on the system properties page the full 4GB installed.
This does not mean that more ram is available to user programs but it is a
change.

Use the 64bit version of Vista for addressing large amounts of memory.
