enabling javascript and activex controls

I am trying to redo my windows updates after having installed Verizon's Yahoo
Browser for DSL a few weeks ago. Says I need to make the windows update
sites part of my allowed list. I did that and it still won't let me proceed
to updating my wiindows xp. I've also gone all through the internet options
section and enabled everything the browser said I should.

Help??
