I am able to run SP3 Safe Moode...is there anything I can do to solve the
problem from here?

However, if I remove SP3 completely, I will be back to XP SP1 - and I need
to have at least SP2 to be able to run quite a few of my programs. Is there
any possibility to eventually install SP2 again...does not get that
alternative in Windows Update.

Hi Lars, SP2 still available, you can use this one -
Windows XP Service Pack 2 - download (for single PCs also)

In addition regarding SP3 for endless reboots, see if there is anything here that may
assist:
Does your AMD-based computer boot after installing XP SP3?

Continual reboots or can only boot into Safe Mode after installing WinXP
SP3?

Workarounds:

1. Boot into Safe Mode and rename INTELPMM.SYS to INTELPMM.OLD.

2. After booting into Safe Mode:

Start | Run | (copy/paste) sc config intelppm start= disabled | OK | Reboot
into normal (Windows) mode.

• You receive a “Stop 0x0000007E” error message after you upgrade to Windows
XP Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3 on a non-Intel-processor-based computer
