I must say this is perhaps the 3rd time I have Validated windows .
Each time not a problem , It is just a hassle.
I understand piracy and how people missused Win 98 ect. " using one
version 10 computers " or worse .
Yet , how many times will I still have to validate my computers OS ? , and
who knows what else they are scouring through . I can use the best of
the best firewall "software and / or hardware " and virus spyware , but I
can be assured Microsoft can get through it all . We have to give i E
access .
Sorry all , but when you really think about it , in Theory , I am getting a
bit
aggravated with Software being sold while its actually a $300.00 BETA OS
program that is so poorly designed that I feel for you all with dial up and
your endless hours of an "out of box " experience you must have .

LOL....What? you just now noticed that this is goin on...Of course MS is
going to collect tons of info from everyone...that's how they stay on
top...Knoledge is Power...for this exact reason, I WILL NOT INSTALL SP2....I
notice after installing it, my computer started acting weird, in a bad
way...so I promply uninstalled it, and it went back to normal again...I'll
stick with SP1 and the updates until that runs out, but that time Longhorn
should be out...then I'll sit back and watch all the problems with the new
programing before deciding whether its worth the trouble or not...but for the
time being MS is the KING in Opperating Systems. You either use it, or not...

Well, now we have the 'Advantage' crap. I'm afraid that I've had enough of
Microsoft.

I KNOW my version of Windows is genuine, and I KNOW that it is so, and so
does Microsoft when I installed it , and 'Activated' it. So why do we need
'Advantage'?

Take a look at Ubuntu Linux. It's the best Linux yet, and runs 'out of the
box'. I now have a dual boot system, and am learning Linux fast, as we need
an alternative to all this spying and 'authenticating' and 'validating'.
Hell, I feel like a criminal, and I own genuine copies...

I suspect you're not alone.

You don't. MS does and they obviously don't care about their paying
customers. MS needs it to counter the activation crack (of course, the day
Genuine came out, so did a crack).

MS assumes you are a thief until you prove differently. You'd thing MS was
in Cuba or North Korea as they have the same policy.

Got a link for Ubuntu Linux?

Heh.

Hi Alias,

Here it is: http://www.ubuntu.com/. It is funded by that Mark Shuttleworth,
the guy who paid to go into space not so long ago. Got more money than sense.
At least he is doing something positive with it....

Incidentally, if you install it as a dual boot system, accept all the
defaults and you will be OK. First, just make sure you have a large
contiguous space on your hard disk that is unformatted (or even better, a
second hard drive), and the installer will pick it up, and install it there.
I would suggest you go to their website, and have a browse before installing,
so you have some prior knowledge. You may want to download and burn a 'Live
CD', that just runs from the CD without touching your system at all. It's
really slow like this, but at least you can try it out. You can see what you
are letting yourself in for first this way....

You may want to chuck Windows altogether, but at make sure you have a full
backup first, just in case....
