If its the ability to play DVDs where the audio is in AC3 format (very
common), I like AC3Filter (

I like Media Player Classic for playing DVDs. You still need the right
codecs, though. (
http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/).
Another possibility is VLC Media Player (
http://www.videolan.org/). It
includes a bundle of codecs and will probably play your DVD right out
of the "box".
I've never used K-Lite.
