Yes, for me it is resolved. I am running Windows XP/SP2
I accessed the following URL
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100/
followed exactly what was offered, however I was only
able to uninstall
..net framework.2.0
not .net framework 1.1 or
..net framework 1.1 Hotfix 886903, neither would uninstall
I then reinstalled .net.framework 2.0 and immediatley
installed update KB922770 successfully.
I must comment I have spent hours on this problem
eventually resolving this myself with help from posts
researched on this forum
Good luck all, but why dont the Microsoft technicians
tell clients in plain terms the simple way of correcting
an update that will not install.
Thanks to all that contributed here

Just double checked, update KB922770 is showing installed in 'Add and Remove'
but not in WUD - there it is showing 'failed' with todays date 12th October
2006. If a technician could explain that amomaly please I would be most
grateful!

If you installed the update manually, then it will not show up in the WU history on
the Website.
PS, I'm not a MS Technician.

Thank you for your reply. You explanation was greatly appreciated. Sorry
about calling you an MS technician, I don't know what (MS-MVP) stand for

Thanks for explaining about how the manual update for KB922770 doesn't show
up in Microsoft Update list on the website. In addition, after a successful
manual update and reboot, the automatic Microsoft Update ran, and tried to
again get me to install KB922770 update, from the place on my hard disk where
it had been originally downloaded. (I had downloaded the manual update to a
different spot and had run it from there, and got a success message.) I
declined to update it a second time. When I went to the Update website and
checked the "Custom" box, it told me no High-Priority updates were available.

Thanks for your info about Windows Update not showing the successful updating
with the KB922770 update. This had puzzled me no end. I first had a
failed update using the automatic Windows Updater. I attempted to remove
the update using the Control Panel & Add/Remove Programs selection. The
first time I tried that, the process hung up, and I had to abort it using
Windows Task Manager. I rebooted, removed as many non-essential running
programs as I could identify using Windows Task Manager, and then was able to
successfully remove the failed update. I then manually downloaded the
KB922770 update to a separate folder, and ran it from there. I got a message
indicating successful completion of the update. When I rebooted, Windows
update ran automatically, and attempted to again get me to install the same
update. I declined, went to the Windows Update website, clicked on "Custom"
updating and found no High-Priority Updates were available. I guess in the
future I will have to decline another attempt to install the KB922770 update
should Windows Update ask.
