I would be grateful. Thanx.

you cant fix it on your side.. its something from the network service...

you have to wait for microsft to fix the network...

and use windows messenger for a while untill they do.

you can also try using another account.
some accoutns have the problem and others dont.

I'm using Vista RC1 and Windows Live Messenger 8.0. My contacts can hear me
fine in a video conference, but I can't hear them. I've tested this with
several friends. I can do the audio chat alone fine (when it actually
connects). Just not the video conference.

And finally, *most* of the time I try to have an audio chat, the other
person never receives the request. When other people call me, I don't
receive the request. So that work around won't work.

Any advice would be appreciated. I'm absolutely stumped!

I have seen the same problem. In my case it was Zone Alarm. You probably have
some flavor of software firewall running that will block different ports
necessary for audio packets or the audio chat invite. Try turning off the
firewall temporarily to see if that solves the problem. If you are not behind
a hardware firewall as well ( a router) you might want to turn on the Windows
firewall before disabling your 3rd party firewall.
