Hello,

I'm getting an error 0x000003eb when trying to connect to a printer that is
connected and shared on a computer that is located on a different domain.
My laptop is part of a domain also, just not the domain that has the printer.

The printer is on a Windows XP Professional workstation. It's a HP LaserJet
4050.

My laptop is Windows Vista Ultimate with every single patch installed.

Exact error message is:
Windows cannot connect to the printer. Operation could not be completed
(error 0x000003eb).

Any help would be appreciated... I've tried all the usual things that I
could think of, even messing with the UAC.

I am able to do a net view \\netBIOS_Name and a dir \\netBIOS_Name\Print$

Bradley

E:\>winerror 0x000003eb
1003 ERROR_CAN_NOT_COMPLETE <--> No NTSTATUS matched

Is the spooler still running on the client? HP has an issue with older
print drivers which use a version of hpbmini.dll that happily check the OS
version and access violate when that version is 6 (it's not expected since
XP was OS version 5) and the spooler happily follows the failure into
oblivion. If this file is not version 16 or greater on XP, go to hp.com and
search vista hpbmini.dll.

I'm receiving the same error message, similar situation but the
printer is different. This one is a Toshiba e-STUDIO45 network copier
configured to print over a network via a print server (all connected
using IP). It sounds like "No NTSTATUS matched" relates to the driver
not being happy when it checks the version of Windows, is that a
correct statement?

Thanks in advance,

No it just means the driver caused the spooler service to terminate on the
client. There a bunch of drivers that can perform this function.

I'm getting the 0x000003eb as well when I'm attempting to connect to a
Toshiba eStudio 45. Tried turning the UAC on & off to no avail. Any help will
be appreciated
