Hi,

This may be an issue with one or more libraries may not be properly
registered.

To resolve this problem:

1. Open a CMD

2. Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each line:

regsvr32 /s Softpub.dll
regsvr32 /s Mssip32.dll
regsvr32 /s Initpki.dll

Thank you

Eric

It's possible that those /s (silent) switches are suppressing signficant
information. Try running those commands again, this time omitting
the /s switches.

BTW there is one more .dll (wintrust.dll)
which is usually re-registered with those 3.
See, for example:

<title>KB836987 - You cannot gain access to the Windows Update Web site</title>

Hmm... that one's been taken down (probably because of its WUv4 bias).
Try this one instead.

<title>You cannot install some updates or programs</title>
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822798/en-us

(MSKB Boolean search for
initpki AND softpub AND "windows update"
)

Wow. There's some heavy duty stuff in there. <eg>

Good luck
