I've tried to install windows update on Microsoft. NET Framework, Version 1.1
Service Pack 1.

While installing it, I get an error code 0x13. I've tried to search the
error code on Microsoft.com but unable to get any information or what I
should do.

Any idea?
Alex

Error code 0x13 translates to ' The data is invalid.'
Please download and run :
..NET Framework setup verification tool
http://astebner.sts.winisp.net/Tools...upverifier.zip

Go over the Readme, run the tool, and find out if .NET Framework 1.1 is
installed properly. If it is not, uninstall ALL updates for it that are
listed in Add/Remove Programs starting with the most *recent* one.
Than uninstall .NET Framework 1.1 via Add/Remove Programs
IF it will not uninstall from ARP, then run this tool :

..NET Framework cleanup tool
http://astebner.sts.winisp.net/Tools...eanup_tool.zip

It will detect all versions of .NET that are installed. Have it remove
..NET Framework 1.1
Next, download .NET Framework 1.1 and SAVE it:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Then download .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 and SAVE it:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

PRIOR to installing the .NET Framework 1.1 and SP1 STRONGLY advise you
to temporarily disable the installed antivirus software. Consult the
Help file or the manufacturer's web site to learn how this is
accomplished. ALL services of the antivirus software must also be
disabled while the .NET Framework and SP1 are installed.

If this makes you feel uncomfortable while still connected to the net or
network, than disconnect the system from ALL connections.

Install .NET Framework 1.1 and restart the system
Install SP1 and restart the system

PRIOR to reconnecting the system, REENABLE the installed antivirus.
Reboot if necessary.

Than pay a visit to Windows | Microsoft Update.
Choose Custom after the initial scan is complete
Any Security updates for .NET Framework should now be listed as a
High-priority update
Click the plus sign next to the .NET updates listed, then click the
Details link.
Now click the link under 'More information' to get to the KB web page of
the offered updates.
The KB page will either offer a live link to the update under 'Update
information' or, you will have to click the link at the top of the
article under ' IT professionals: '
This will take you to the Security Bulletin for the update
Locate the update applicable to the Version of Windows that is installed
on your system under ' Affected Software ' and click the link next to it.
That will take you to the MS Download Center.
Once again, download and SAVE the updates that are offered on the Update
sites.
DO NOT install them with the antivirus software Enabled.
Close the browser and any other open programs and then TEMP disable the
AV once more as you did when installing .NET Framework 1.1 and SP1.

That *should* eliminate any installation issues.

Thanks for your excellent instructions. I had the same problem but after
following your instructions, .NET FW 1.1 SP1 security update finally
installed.
