error 0X800 72 EE2

I do have the same problem trying to download Windows Update SP2.
Nice to see that I am not alone with it. But does Microsoft realize that
their service is just not working?

Since I am not a computer freak I do not dare to change any settings myself.
Why is their automated help not working?

I get the same error.
Clean Install from slipstreamed sp2 cd.
Worked on dialup.
Have since applied tweaks from tunexp, gpedit.msc, x-teq setup 6.3 and
XP-antispy.
Have rolled back all the tweaks from xp-antispy - deactivated the group
policy settings, undone the three tweaks I did in x-teq except for one
dealing with the boot wallpaper. Undone all the tweaks in tunexp except the
boot optomisation (it moves the system boot files and drivers to the start of
the disc.) and the improve ntfs performance.

I have tracked it down in the windowsupdate.log to this error

This error is not covered in the update assist, and the online support was
unable to fix the problem without paying US$35. I decided to do a clean
install at this point and am now back to it. Have any of you had the same
error and used the same programs or similar tweaks, if so what did you change.
