error 0x800401f3 on update to new Win Update

Upon install of Version 5 of Win Update I got the Fatal error 0x800401f3.
This results in error 0xC8000711 when update is run. When I click on
either experess or custom it searches and comes up with a window with the
above error code. My system is Win 2k pro at SP4 Version 5.00.2195. The
browser is I/E 6 at version 6.0.2800.1106. I have administrator priveliges.
I searched on error 0x800401f3 and found a number of fixes none of which
worked. I replaces the System 32 wu dlls, updated the XML support without
success. Below is an extract of my log arround the error.

I'd attach the rest of the log but it easily excedes the 3000 character
limit. Please help me.
