Security updates will not install and gives an erroe code of 0x80070003.Other
updates do install.Any ideas why?This seem to happen right after I ran a spy
scan

When searching for available updates on the Update site, you see the
0x80070002 or 0x80070003 error

Problem description
This error may occur if there is a content mismatch in the DataStore folder.

Applicable operating systems

Windows 2000
Windows XP
Windows Server 2003

Resolutions
1. Delete the contents of the DataStore folder
Stop the Automatic Updates service
Click Start.
Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.
Delete the contents of the DataStore folder
Click Start.
Choose Run.
In the Run box, type %windir%\SoftwareDistribution.
Click OK.
Open the DataStore folder.
Delete all contents of the DataStore folder.
Close the window.
Start the Automatic Updates service
Click Start.
Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Start.
Starting the service will take a moment.

I only get the error 0x80070003.I tried deleting the contents of the
datastore folder and it did not help.I also turned my virus software off,any
ideas?This is only security updates,they won't install.

Rename the softwaredistribution folder - see links on instructions

You receive a "0x80070002" or "0x80070003" error code after you download an
update from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or from Windows Server
Update Services

When searching for available updates on the Update site, you see the
0x80070002 or 0x80070003 error

i too get the message '0x80070003'. I've tried many suggested solutions
including the ones below. none have worked. can anyone help?
