I did the windows update and I receive the following:

The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem.

Is there a solution for this error?

This fixed it for me. But you will have to reinstall SP1 & SP2, etc.

Resolutions:

The value for the CSDVersion in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrÂ*entControlSet\Cont rol\Windows needs to be
changed to 0. If you are comfortable editing the registry, follow the
instructions below.

1. Click "Start," and then click "Run."

2. In the Open box type regedit and click "OK."

3. Browse in the left frame to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrÂ*entControlSet\Cont rol\Windows

4. In the right frame you will see the key CSDVersion. Double click this
key.

5. Change the value to 0 and click "OK."

6. Restart the computer.

I just realized that I had started using a dialup accelerator last week. So
I disabled it, and guess what: I now get updates!
It is called "Dial-Up Accelerator powered by SlipStream".
