I get error 0x80070103 when trying to install an updated driver for a Dlink
DGE-528T gigabit ethernet card.
can't find info on the MS KB about this problem.
Does anyone know to fix it?
Thanks
Mike

You would be better off getting this update from the Manufacturer's site.

Thanks TaurArian,
I've seen this error code reported a few times, and the answer is frequently
to go to the manufacturers website. Would installing it from Dlinks website
then stop it appearing in the Windows Update website when I scan for
updates?
I'd like to find out where these error codes are documented, for future
reference.

Cheers
Mike

A majority of the error codes can be found by searching google -

http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=e...codes%22&meta=

Also:-

Thank you TaurArian.
I found a match, but I didn't understand it!
I noticed that Windows Update indicates the update is already downloaded
(shows 0Kb to download), so it thinks it justs need to install it, which it
tries to do and thats when I get the 0x80070103. I have a feeling that the
install fails because it can't find what it thinks was already downloaded.
Is there a procedure for resetting windows update? I know there is a WUTEMP
folder but I can't find it this time.

Thanks
Mike

You're better off getting the update from the manufacturer.

To clear out downloads from the download folder -

Remove WU downloads from the temporary folder:-

Stop the Automatic Updates service

Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.

Delete the contents of the Download folder
Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type %windir%\SoftwareDistribution
Click OK.
Open the Download folder.
Delete all contents of the Download folder.
Close the window.

Start the Automatic Updates service
Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Start.
Starting the service will take a moment.

By deleting the contents of the Download folder - you have removed any
downloaded updates.

Thanks TaurArian
I was able to clean up the download folder, that forced the driver to
download again, but it still wouldn't install.
The manufacturer doesn't have a newer version - just the shipping version
which i'm already using, but the one available via WU is newer. I guess I
should just ignore it, but I wish I could find out what causes the
0x80070103. I must be a completist!
