Error 0x8007041D after downloading Update software

When I request download of the latest version of the Update software, the web
page downloads, copies and registers the software but then gives various
errors, which are never addressed. I'm running XP Home and have disabled
Norton Antivirus.

Two of the errors I've received are 0x8007041D and 0x8024D007

Also, verify that the service is initialized by the "local system
account", you can follow this steps:

Start->Run, type "services.msc" (without quotation marks), double click

I don't have sufficient information to suggest anything useful. The
Atomatic Update service failed to stop, but I cannot determine the
reason. A incorrect permissions set on the "wuauserv" service is a
common cause.

- From a command line (start/run/cmd.exe) type "net stop wuauserv"
(without quotes) and post the output.
