Go to start -run - services.msc and make sure cryptography,windows update and
Background Intelligence Transfer services are running, if not running.Right
click on them one by one and start them.Try for updates and see the results.

If failed, go to c:\windows\system32 folder and rename software distribution
and catroot2 folder followed by try again to download updates and see the
results.

Hope it fixes problems for you.

There a very good chance are that you're seeing the affects of a hijackware
infection.

1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:

3. Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting the requested
