Hello all,

I'm getting this message when i log onto the v5 Microsoft Update Website and
try and do any updates, either custom or express.

I've managed to update using the v4 update website but i just can't get the
v5 website to work. I've tried editing the registry, removing SP2 and
re-loading it, ran virus scan(non found) and run spyware remoal softwares.
Still no go.

I've noticed that the Automatic Updates software has been locked out from
being changed via the system tray. But when i go into the Control Panel, i
can change the settings but it still won't activate or update over the
internet.

Any help would be appriciated.

Thanks

There are two things you can try:-

1. Click Start. Choose Run.
2. In the Run box, type: regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll
3. Click OK.

Try WU again from a fresh IE window. If still problems:

Here is something to try:

**********
1. open "wordpad"
2. copy this text (below) into the "wordpad"
3. save the "wordpad" file as "IEreg.bat" to your desktop and then "double
click" to launch
