Error 0x80072EE2 occured after uninstall xp sp2

Yesterday I dowloaded xp sp2 and installed it. And there are bugs after
installed. So I uninstalled sp2 and system restored with sp1.
Then I visited windows update and update xp sp1. Now error 0x80072EE2
occured(ie. when I click the hyperlink to choose the method of update and
choose recommend one, there always shows "now searching" and shows searching
is failed just giving the error code 0x80072EE2.)
I try all the resolutions abovementioned,but failed.
How can I do?

I'v tried already.But It doesn't function.
And my windowsupdate.log shows that no error was recorded.
Does it matter with the version of iuengine.dll?

even happens on a new pc, going thru isa 2k. part of a domain pc. never
installed sp2, stayed at sp1. brand new pc.
