In the log file it appears all is well until the following entries:
976 568 PT: Callin GetConfig on server
976 568 Add header for accept-encoding: express succeeded
976 568 SendRequest failed with hr=80072ee2. Proxy List used:
<socks=172.15.2.9:1080>Bypass List used:<*.wscs.com;*.bank-e.com>
976 568 GetCongif: 0x80072ee2
976 568 PT: Cannot recover from fault, origin=GetConfig, hr=0x80072ee2

The Proxy and exception list is what I need to get to the internet from my
location. Does anyone have any idea how to get this running? This problem is
holding up the configuration of several new PC's.

Hi, Ann;

See here: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;836941
especially the part about adding the Windows Update sites to your Trusted
and/or proxy exceptions list.

SKY;
I have already explored the article this link references and have tried
those suggestions. I did add the links to the trusted sites and attempted to
use the exceptions too in the proxy but found doing that did not allow me to
even get to the WIndows Update site.

I found a temporary work around by using the Base Line Security Analyzer and
then downloading the suggested critical updates after I downloaded and
applied the SP2 for IT professional to be used for multiple installs. This
only a temporary solution because once the PC is placed at the branch bank I
will need it to be getting updates automatically.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks, Ann K

Did you try adding just "*.microsoft.com" in the proxy exception list?

On the IE/Tools/Internet Options/Advanced page, do you have "Use Http 1.1
through proxy" enabled?

When you attempt to get to the Windows Update site with the MS items added
to your proxy exception list, what happens exactly? Do you see any entries
in your C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log file for that session that failed?

Do those systems have the Automatic Update service set to Automatic and
Started? (check Start/Run/Services.msc to verify)? BITS set to Manual or
Automatic in that services list?
