Error 0X80072EE2 while searching for available updates!

Hello,

every time I go to Windows Update I get error message 0X80072EE2 while
searching for available updates. I've already done all the steps mentioned in
the Knowledge Base articles, but nothing worked.
Strangely I was not able to send this message from my computer, because
every time I clicked the "Post" button, nothing happened.

Hi

You receive an "Error 0x80072EE2" or "Error 0x80072EFD" error message when
you try to use Windows Update
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;836941


If you have Norton Internet Security or something similar installed
(e.g. some 3rd party firewall as mentioned in the article above),
you might need to reconfigure or disable it.

i to have had this problem and tried everything from this forum but to no
avail i have however just found this on the symantec site as i have nis 2004
at this address

To permit Windows Update full access

Open Norton Internet Security.
Double-click Privacy Control.
Click Advanced.
In the scroll list, select microsoft.com > windowsupdate.microsoft.com.
On right pane, go to Global Settings tab.
On Information About Your Browser, uncheck "Use Default Settings" and choose
"Permit".
Click OK.
this seems to work for me so far will be interesting is this still works
