Well, I finally sorted my problem with the 80072EFD error.
I had been disabling the nVidia nForce Firewall that comes with my Asus
A8N-SLI Deluxe nForce4 Motherboard, to no avail. I am also running McAfee
Enterprise Version 8.0i antivirus software, which has limited port blocking
capabilities. When I disabled this software Windows Update performed
perfectly. So maybe you can learn something for my situation.
