Error 0x80072f78: DownloadFileInternal failed

Hi,

I am seeing the following error in windowsupdate.com;

failed: error 0x80072f78

The solution as described in scenario 1 in KB article
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;885819 does not
work! I have downloaded 871260
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/871260/) An update rollup for Internet
Explorer versions 5.x and 6.0 but that does not install though I am
running IE 6 SP1

Any ideas?

0x80072f78 - ERROR HTTP INVALID SERVER RESPONSE

Is there a proxy server between this client and Windows Update?

The patch in 871260 may not apply to IE6SP1; check the build numbers listed in
the KB article against the current build number of your installed IE. The
rollup only applies to version 6.00.2800.1106. If you have SP2 installed, you
have v6.00.2900 or later.

Have you tried simply installing WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86.exe and then
browsing to WU?

Hi there,

I have already tried proxycfg -d & proxycfg -u with no luck.

I have also tried WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86.exe but still it sucks.

Oh yes, I have ISA 2000 SP2 as the proxy and I see the error on Windows
2000 Servers where I am running WU.
