My setup is Windows Server 2003, using MS Proxy Server 2.0 on my company
network using vlans. I can get through the Windows Update site up to the
point where it's about to start downloading the updates I need. But then
download progress bar never starts. After about 20 seconds, it fails. I
check the update history, and error# 0x80072F78 is listed there. I had
manually downloaded and installed Windows Installer 3.1 because the error
actually shows up at that point, so I did that so I can get a step further
and see. I have looked at most of the error 0x80072F78 KB pages and they
don't seem to apply to my setup. The vlan the server is on does not have
direct internet access. I know if it was, the updates will work, but I
prefer it to work through the proxy for better security.
