Error 0x80072F8F; all 94 updates failed!

Using WIN XP Home Ed SP2 desktop. After Daylight Saving Time, my taskkbar
time and date went back to 1 Jan 2002! I manually corrected; Sys Restore
shows only March 08 and 1 Jan 02! 4-5 blue screen Stop msgs.
All WIN Updates failed! Keep getting update alert on taskbar but when run,
msg shows WIN Installer 3.1 not installed. Error 08x80072F8F--no
regsvr32softpub.dll;no regsvr32.dll; no regsvr32jscript.dll!
Downloaded AVG Free which shows no sign of virus. Have spent several days
working on this. Can someone help this frustrated 80-year-old gramma so I can
get some sleep soon?

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP
installation:
