SEC_E_SECPKG_NOT_FOUND The requested security package does not exist Need to look at the Windows Update log for further clues Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type: %windir%\windowsupdate.log and then click OK. Scroll down towards the bottom for the latest entries to locate the error code(s) associated with the latest failed attempt to download/install. If appropriate copy and paste the error codes into this thread so someone may be able to assist you. On the other hand, you may be able to find the error code and other suggestions by searching the Newsgroup. Web accelerator programs or other programs may have added static IP entries for the
Windows Update Web site to the Hosts file. Even if you're not using a Web accelerator program, check the Hosts file. Use Notepad to view and check the contents of the Hosts file (note you can edit the Hosts file using Notepad) Now ignore all lines beginning with # in the first column Check to see if there are entries referring to Windows Update and delete them. (NB: As always it's a great idea to back up before making any changes you're not sure of just in case) Now save the file you're just edited.
