|I am having major problems getting the Windows Update to work. I have no idea
| the last time it updated, but it could be as much as a year ago now. I am
| getting the 0x800A01AE error, and have tried all the available answers to fix
| it. I have re-registered all the dll files, multiple times:
|
| (regsvr32 wuapi.dll
| regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
| regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll
| regsvr32 wucltui.dll
| regsvr32 wups.dll
| regsvr32 wups2.dll
| regsvr32 wuweb.dll)
|
| I have gone to the dlldump site and downloaded new versions of all these
| files. I have rebooted, turned off my firewall, plugged directly into my
| cable modem instead of my router, and nothing has had any effect. My system
| is 2000 Pro, I have Service Pack 4 installed, and I have Trend Micro PC
| Cillin 2005 installed (but currently disabled).
|
| If anyone can offer any suggestions to fix or work atround this error, I
| would be most appreciative.
|
| Thanks, Tim
