I have a Dell 2400 Pentium 4 that is a little over a year old. I am running
AVG anti virus and Zone Alarm for a firewall. Windows Update used to work
with no problem. I went to update IE for because I am having trouble with
JavaScript, but I get an error message : An error occurred while trying to
scan your computer and cannot display the page you want error 0x80190193. I
don't know if the message is exactly correct, but that is the problem. The
Windows Update website is scanning my computer and then I get an error.
Please help because I really need to update IE. I keep getting 403 Error
messages from many websites and I don't know why.

Occurs if the server is busy, also

Try installing the latest version of Microsoft Windows Script. 5.6 for your operating
system, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...ist/webdev.asp

I don't think this is a network problem bc it happens all the time now and it
never happened before. I went to the page you suggested and the page is blank.

Your problem is most likely IE - I just checked the link provided and it's okay for
me and was also okay at the time of posting.

To test Javascript:
http://www.dancespots.net/browsertest.htm
Java Tester: http://javatester.org/
Sun Java - run their test utility here:
http://java.com/en/download/help/testvm.jsp

You Cannot Open New Internet Explorer Window or Nothing Happens After You Click a
Link
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=281679

In case the above link doesn't work for you, try re-registering these files:-
1. Quit all programs that are running.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message,
click OK.
If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the
following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below): •
Shdocvw.dll
• Actxprxy.dll
• Oleaut32.dll
• Mshtml.dll
• Browseui.dll
• Shell32.dll

If you need further assistance regarding IE, please post to the IE Newsgroups
