error 0x80242006 Actualización para Windows XP (KB934238)

Hello:
I am having the same problem. But I my case this occurred after a
problem with error: 0x643 trying to install .NET Framework 2.0 Service
Pack 1 (KB110806). I could not resolve that error, so, following the
advice I found in a discussion forum, I uninstalled all .NET
Frameworks form this computer. Now, the system seems to try several
times to install the update KB934238, and then it reports the failure.
Does Microsoft say something about this? Is KB934238 so important?

I installed a fresh WinXP+SP2 and then used Windows Update to install all
Updates that were found.
Update KB934238 didn't want to be installed and showed Error 0x80242006.
After installing
Update für .NET Framework 3.0: x86 (KB932471)
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 (KB110806)
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1 (KB929300)
the Installation of KB934238 went well.

Solution: Uninstall all the .NET Framework updates (1.1, 2.0, 3.0) and any
Hotfix updates. Restart your system if prompt or perform a manual restart.
Go to Windows Update and install any or all the .NET Framework updates. When
you do this, you'll see update KB934238 install as a high priority update.
Update KB934238 might fail to install during this process, not to worry, part
of the process. If all updates installed successfully except for KB934238,
close the Windows Update screen and then reopen it and check for any
available updates. If the process was conducted successfully you won't see
update KB934238 as an available update. If the process fails retry

Solution: If the steps I described below did not work for you I suggest not
to install any of the .NET Framework updates (1.1, 2.0, 3.0) unless you're a
programmer or if you need to install software that requires it.

Hi PLEASE HELP A NOVICE - i too have this same error , but after reading all
the replies, I haven't got the foggiest idea what your all on about, so how
am I going to rid my computer of this error amongst others! I try to follow
onscreen help on ms website help etc but after this and that I've forgotton
what I was doing in the first place and just close programms!

Can somebody give me some advice, remember I a complete novice at all this
repair stuff!
