Error 0x80244017 Server 2003

One of my 2003 Standard Servers (without SP1) began failing to connect to
Windows Update with error 0x80244017 with the introduction of v6.

I have renamed the software distribution directory and added all of the
appropriate sites to the Trusted Sites list without relief. We use a
Watchguard Firebox X700 firewall, we do not use a proxy and no other server
or workstation in the building has manifested this issue.

I have also uninstalled the IE Enhanced Security without relief.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Same effect. Can you bypass it? Otherwise find out from it
what it doesn't like? (most likely anonymous connection just like ISA)

FYI Code means:

0x80244017 -2145107945 SUS E PT HTTP STATUS DENIED Http status 401 - access denied

Many thanks for your reply. While the references are for a situation not
exactly like mine, I will try installing the patch you mentioned and see what
happens.

In the meanwhile, it has been determined that the server in question is
going to be wiped and rebuilt to deal with other issues, so the question has
been renedered largely moot.
